Firm Skis for 24 Hours to Raise Funds for Youth Group

Could you ski for 24 hours straight, even for a great cause? An accounting firm in Maine has accepted the challenge.

The BerryDunn “Downhillers” team is skiing for 24 hours straight at the Downhill 24 to raise funds for WinterKids. The second annual Downhill 24 is a 24-hour (technically, 23 hours with the clock springing forward) team downhill ski race at Mt. Abram on March 8-9. WinterKids is a nonprofit dedicated to getting kids outside and active during several of the Maine seasons: “almost winter,” “winter,” and “still winter.”

Last year, BerryDunn’s team skied the entire 23 hours with only four team members. This year, the team is seeking help to win the big race—fundraising. Donations to WinterKids are fully tax deductible, naturally.

The race will be held at Mt. Abram on March 8 and 9. The race start time is Saturday at noon. There will be live bands, prizes, a beer garden, and entertainment ‘round the clock. For details, visit winterkids.org.

WinterKids’ mission is to help kids develop healthy lifelong habits through outdoor winter activities. For 16 years, WinterKids has brought fun winter activity to over 100,000 Maine kids.
